WIPO Paid Internship Program 2025: The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Internship Program provides an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates worldwide to gain hands-on experience in various professional fields. Whether you have a background in law, intellectual property, science and technology, finance, human resources, economics, communications, IT, translation, or international relations, this program can help you develop your skills in an international work environment. Some positions are exclusively available to applicants from Unrepresented Member States.

Who Can Apply WIPO Paid Internship Program 2025?

To be eligible, applicants must be either:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or advanced degree program
  • Graduates who have obtained their degree within the past two years

WIPO Paid Internship Internship Categories & Benefits

WIPO offers two internship categories based on academic qualifications:

Category I

  • Open to undergraduate students in their third or fourth year or those who have recently completed their first-level degree.
  • Monthly stipend: 1,570 Swiss francs (includes 70 Swiss francs for local transport at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva).
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months.

Category II

  • For advanced degree holders or graduate students who have completed coursework but not their final thesis.
  • Monthly stipend: 2,070 Swiss francs (includes 70 Swiss francs for local transport at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva).
  • Duration: 3 to 12 months.

WIPO Paid Internship Additional Requirements

Language Proficiency:

  • Strong command of English and/or French.
  • Knowledge of additional WIPO working languages (Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage.

IT Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software applications.

Travel & Visa Support

  • Interns are responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs.
  • However, candidates from developing and Least Developed Countries may receive up to 1,500 Swiss francs to cover travel expenses if they meet specific conditions.
  • WIPO assists with obtaining a Swiss residence and work permit (“carte de légitimation”) for interns at its Geneva headquarters.
