To engage law students in legal service initiatives, NALSA offers an internship program that provides practical exposure to legal aid and justice mechanisms. This program allows interns to understand NALSA’s role in legal awareness, dispute resolution, and access to justice initiatives.

About the NALSA Internship Program 2025

The NALSA Internship Program is designed to provide law students with hands-on experience in the workings of legal aid institutions and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Interns will work under legal professionals and gain insights into NALSA’s legal aid schemes, collaborations with State and District Legal Services Authorities, and legal awareness programs.


Eligibility Criteria for National Legal Services Authority Internship

  • Open to students pursuing a Three-Year LL.B. or Five-Year Integrated Law Course from a recognized university, college, or institution.
  • Students who are in the 2nd or 3rd year of the Three-Year LL.B. program and the 4th or 5th year of the Five-Year Integrated Law program are given preference.

NALSA Internship 2025 Duration

  • The internship will last for one month (four weeks) and will commence from the 1st day of the respective month.

Lok Adalat Internship Requirements & Guidelines

Work & Responsibilities

  • Interns will be required to submit a detailed report at the end of the internship outlining their work and learnings.
  • The Certificate of Internship will be awarded only upon successful completion and subject to the approval of the Member Secretary, NALSA.
  • Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory to receive the internship certificate.
  • No stipend or remuneration will be provided.
  • Interns must arrange their own accommodation and travel expenses.
  • Internship working hours: Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Second & fourth Saturdays are holidays).
  • Interns must carry their own laptops for smooth workflow.
  • Field visits to courts, mediation centers, Lok Adalats, and legal aid institutions will be required.
  • Dress code: Formal Black & White attire as per Bar Council of Delhi guidelines.
  • Poor performance may result in termination of the internship.
  • The internship is full-time and in-person, meaning interns must not undertake any other work or academic commitments during the internship period.

Interested candidates can apply through the official NALSA website.

Application Procedure:

  1. Fill out the online application form available on the National Legal Services Authority!.
  2. Upload the following required documents:
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
    • Expression of Interest (A one-page write-up explaining motivation and suitability for the internship)
    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the respective authority (Dean, Head of Department, Internship & Placement Committee, or any other higher authority) mentioning the student’s name and semester/year.
  3. The application form will be accessible for two months before the internship start date (e.g., for May 2025, applications will be open from February 1 to March 31, 2025).
  4. Selection is based on individual merit, and the decision of the Competent Authority will be final.

Note: Applications submitted via any means other than the official online portal will not be considered.

National Legal Services Authority Internship Schedule & Activities

Interns will begin their program with an Orientation Session that introduces them to the mission and functioning of NALSA. Throughout the internship, they will be assigned reading materials related to NALSA’s activities, including:

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • NALSA Schemes & Modules
  • Statistical Reports
  • Legal Aid Strategies

Key Activities Include:

  • Field visits to Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and Legal Aid Defense Counsel Offices.
  • Observational visits to Remand Courts, Crime Against Women (CAW) Cells, and the District Magistrate’s Office.
  • Exposure to Supreme Court operations, including visits to the Supreme Court Mediation Centre, Supreme Court Library, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
  • Participation in National Lok Adalat proceedings.
  • Interaction with NALSA officials at the conclusion of the internship, followed by a group photograph.
